Vibrant food colors from nature
Color Kitchen's decorative food colors are sourced from nature and come in fun and easy-to-use powder packets. They are ideal for those sensitive or allergic to food additives and synthetic food dyes, and for those looking for a more natural ingredient to include in their baking projects.
Presented in a powdered format, these food colours have a long shelf life and don't require fridgeration.
INGREDIENTS:
BLUE: maltodextrin, spirulina extract,
- NATURALLY SOURCED FOOD DYES
- ARTIFICIAL DYE-FREE
- PLANT COLORS
- GLUTEN-FREE
- NON-GMO
- VEGAN
HOW TO USE:
Use 1 color sachet per 2 cups of icing/frosting/batter for light colour shades or 1 color sachet per 1 cup for more vibrant color. Enough for a cake, or a dozen cupcakes or cookies.
For best results, blend the color powder with your dry ingredients before adding to your wet ingredients. For pre-made frostings/buttercreams, first mix the color powder with 1/4 teaspoon water or glycerine to make a paste, then add into your frostings or cake batters for easy blending.
Color mixing, make your own hues:
Purple: blue + pink
Red: pink + pinch of orange (or use Velvet Red powder colour instead)
BAKING & COOKING:
Natural colors are heat sensitive therefore fading may occur when baking into cake - use low temperature baking below color. Most vibrant results will be obtained with frostings and icings instead.
Natural colors can be heat sensitive and start to fade at temperatures over 100C, resulting in more pastel colors.
For cake color and other baked goods, a recipe with a shorter bake time or lower heat is recommended (mini cupcakes, thin layered cake).
When working with heated recipes, like a gummy candy, isomalt or chocolate, mix colors into a liquid first and then add into the cooling phase for maximum color vibrancy.
